Things to do in West London

West London is home to some of London’s most popular neighbourhoods. When visiting our campus, you will be in close proximity to some of the best attractions, all easily accessible from your accommodation by public transport. See our list below for some of our favourite places to visit during your stay.

Wembley Stadium

The original Wembley Stadium opened its doors in April 1923. As the pre-eminent sports and entertainment venue in Britain, it’s hosted a wide range of events from rugby (league and union) to speedway championships, stock car and greyhound racing. The stadium is within five miles of Woodward Buildings and Kemp porter and can be accessed by bus, train or car.

Notting Hill

One of the most iconic neighbourhoods in London, Notting Hill is the home of Portobello Road Market, pastel-coloured houses and famous restaurants and events. Notting Hill is easily accessible from our accommodation in West London on the Central Line.

Shepherd’s Bush Market

Close to Westfield Shopping Centre, you’ll find Shepherd’s Bush Market. Open Monday to Saturday from 09.00 – 18.00, there is more than 90 traders selling a range of goods from fashion to food.

Westfield Shopping Centre

Westfield is one of Europe’s largest shopping centres. Located in Shepherd’s Bush, this shopping centre accessible via the Central line on the London Underground. It is home to more than 300 shops, cafés, bars, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

Heathrow Airport

Travelling from overseas? Heathrow Airport is within a 50-minute journey on the newly opened Elizabeth Line. You can also reach Heathrow Airport from our West London accommodation by car or taxi.

Public transport

From London City Airport

Journey time: 67 minutes

Take the DLR to Stratford then change to the Underground and take the Central line to North Acton.

From Heathrow Airport

Journey time: 45 minutes

Take the Elizabeth line from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Acton Main Line station and then a 10-minute walk.

From Gatwick Airport

Journey time: 75 minutes

Take the Gatwick Express or Southern Railway to Victoria mainline station. Change to the Underground and take the Victoria line to Oxford Circus. At Oxford Circus take the Central line to North Acton.

From Stansted Airport

Journey time: 90 minutes

Take the Stansted Express, which runs approximately every 15 minutes, to Liverpool Street mainline station. Change to the Underground and take the Central line to North Acton.

By car

The nearest car park is Travelodge London Park Royal Car Park, W3 0TE. Prices start from £7 per day.

By coach

Coaches can drop off /pick up guests in front of Kemp Porter Buildings on Wales Farm Road. The maximum standing time is 20 minutes. There is no coach parking available. The nearest coach parking is at Westfield Shopping Centre, W12 7GF.
