Collect the key at Security Control Room 108 which is located on Level 1, Sherfield Building. If you arrive outside of the gate opening hours you are advised to access the campus via Prince Consort Road pedestrian gates or via Imperial College road. 170 Queen’s Gate is a stunning Grade II-listed Victorian town house, which was completed in 1889 by Norman Shaw, one of the most important architects of the 19th century. Enjoy a luxurious stay with complimentary tea- and coffee-making facilities and essential amenities including ironing facilities, Wi-Fi and telephone access. It’s important to note that due to the Grade II-listed status of 170 Queen’s Gate it is not an accessible building and is not suitable for those with mobility constraints.

Travel information

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The nearest London Underground (tube) stations are South Kensington and Gloucester Road, each less than a 10-minute walk away. From here, you can take the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines to anywhere in London. Our reception team can provide you and your group with maps of Central London and the Underground.

  • From Heathrow Airport
    Take the Heathrow Express, which runs every 15 minutes to Paddington mainline station. Change to the Underground and take the Circle line to South Kensington. Alternatively, you can take the Piccadilly line directly from Heathrow Airport to South Kensington.
    Journey time: 50 minutes
  • From London City Airport
    Take the DLR to Canning Town, then change to the Underground and take the Jubilee line. At Green Park, change to the Piccadilly line to South Kensington station.
    Journey time: 40 minutes
  • From Gatwick Airport
    Take the Gatwick Express, which runs approximately every 15 minutes, to Victoria mainline station. Change to the Underground and take the District or Circle lines to South Kensington.

  • From Stanstead Airport
    Take the Stansted Express, which runs approximately every 15 minutes, to Liverpool Street mainline station. Change to the Underground and take the Circle line to South Kensington.

BY CAR

Parking on campus is extremely limited and must be pre-booked at least seven days in advance, subject to availability. The cost is £3.00 per hour or £22.00 overnight. Entry is via Exhibition Road, SW7 2BX. To book, please email car.park@imperial.ac.uk and provide:

  • the car make and model;
  • the registration (licence plate) number;
  • your arrival and departure dates

Unfortunately, camper vans and minibuses are not able to park on site.

Parking in the streets around Prince’s Gardens is on a pay-and-display basis for limited periods only.

BY COACH

Coaches can drop off and pick up guests at the corner of Prince’s Gardens main entrance on Exhibition Road. The maximum standing time is 20 minutes.

There is no coach parking available on campus. The nearest coach park is Euro Car Parks in Hyde Park, W2 4QH.
